Prof. Vermeir is assistant professor within the department of Green Chemistry and Technology of the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering of Ghent University. He and his team are analytical experts focusing on innovations in instrumental and analytical chemistry and technology. Method development, improvement and validation in challenging matrices form his core business. His group was granted with a quality label from the federal Belgian government, and the entire lab works according to the guidelines of the ISO 17025 quality standard. 

On top, prof. Vermeir is CEO of the INSTALAB Core facility from Ghent University, an analytical service center offering expertise in the qualitative and quantitative determination of inorganic and organic compounds. Prof. Vermeir has experience in multidisciplinary projects with different stakeholders (including industry).
