Dores Cirne is a researcher at VITO, specialised in the domain of wastewater treatment (anaerobic and aerobic processes), resource recovery, and application of circular economy principles. She holds a Ph.D in Engineering – Biotechnology from the University of Lund (Sweden). With an interest in sustainable development and focus on applied R&D, she has accumulated experience in academia and in industry, at international level, in topics related to her domain of expertise, both as scientist as well as project coordinator, looking at the development and implementation of solutions leading to the improvement of the efficiency and the sustainability of activities.
Within VITO as member of the Water Climate Hub, she is involved in activities related to circular water treatment and management, climate adaptation and sustainability including contribution to projects, and the definition of the roadmap for implementing applied research capacity in the areas of water treatment, climate adaptation and sustainability.
