Meet Eric De Coninck, a distinguished civil engineering graduate from Ghent University who has spent the vast part of his career in the steel industry. After completing his studies, Eric began his professional journey as a researcher in the lab of a paper mill, before joining N.V. Sidmar (now ArcelorMittal) in 1983. Throughout his career at ArcelorMittal, Eric has held various management positions, showcasing his expertise in maintenance management, production planning, and project engineering. Eric's outstanding leadership and operational excellence saw him rise to the position of Chief Operating Officer in 2008, overseeing the Upstream industrial operations of the Liège plant. The following year, he took on a similar role at the Fos sur Mer steel mill, responsible for engineering and industrial operations. Eric's contributions to the steel industry are not limited to his managerial roles. In 2012, he became the AM FCE CTO Business Development Director, focusing on the adoption of new technologies and sustainability projects within the ArcelorMittal group through AM Innovation. With his wealth of experience and expertise, Eric has established himself as a prominent figure in the steel industry.
