Prof. dr. ir. Tim Van Winckel is guest professor and senior researcher in the SUSTAIN research group at the university of Antwerp. His educational tasks involve teaching course on water treatment technologies and environmental sciences, with focus on the urban water cycle. With a diverse background ranging from bioprocess engineering of wastewater treatment technologies to life cycle assessment and material flow analysis, his research focuses on the development of novel technologies, control loops and sensoring for sustainable nutrient management and water reuse, with specific focus on intensification and resource efficiency. His work is guided by an implementation mindset, integrating technical performance with economic and environmental feasibility from early concept through validation and scale-up.
