Four UGent research groups, being part of the CAPTURE plastics to resource pipeline, join forces for the execution of the MATTER project on mechanical and thermochemical recycling of mixed plastic waste. The MATTER-project, a two-year Catalisti-ICON project (2018-2019), wants to evaluate the recycling of mixed (post-consumer) plastic waste streams and to use the generated data to develop a decision supporting framework. The MATTER-project is a cooperation between four companies (Indaver, Borealis, Bulk.ID and ECO-oh!), Ghent University and UAntwerp. Organizations such Fost+, Plarebel and OVAM will be closely involved in the project execution.
The IMPROVED project is funded by the INTERREG V "Vlaanderen-Nederland" programme, a cross-border cooperation programme with the financial support of the European Regional Development Fund. IMPROVED will build 3 state-of-the-art mobile research facilities that serve to purify the water in the most efficient way, estimate detrimental effects on the distribution system and test the impact of the water quality on the downstream process equipment. The project will last 3 years, starting at 1/01/2016.
