The IIC University of Ghent was founded in 1990 as one of the first Incubation and Innovation centers in Flanders. It is a joint project of Ghent University, the University College of Ghent, the province of East Flanders, the city of Ghent, GIMV, BNP-Paribas Fortis, Arcelor-Mittal, Suez, Ethias,...

The Incubation and Innovation Center Ghent University is a service center reserved for spin-offs of the Ghent University Association. It is available for spin-offs coming from the various faculties of the AUG.

The mission of the IIC UGent

Stimulating the startup, growth and development of young innovative high technological companies. By stimulating intellectual synergy and networking, the IIC UGent wants to create a dynamic climate for young and creative entrepreneurship, where new ideas can develop into successful companies.

The iic is primarily a business generator

Spin-offs from the AUG can get logistical and operational support. Secondly, they can receive a strategic service package to succeed in their business.

The IIC University of Ghent can realize the correct accompaniment mix for each project by using its extensive network of technical, legal and financial advisors. The IIC University of Ghent offers solutions to every challenge in the startup and growth process thanks to close collaboration with the following strategic partners: Technology Transfer Ghent University, the University College of Ghent, the Regional Development Company East-Flanders, the city of Ghent and the other shareholders of the IIC University of Ghent.

Since its establishment in 1990, 118 hi-tech companies successfully launched  at the IIC University of Gent. There's a wide variety of fields in the Incubation and Innovation Center. Research-oriented companies ensure a thorough synergy between the various disciplines, which allows new innovative activities to develop and grow.
